Benito Juarez
Much-loved President
Benito Juarez is possibly the best-loved president that Mexico has ever had. He was the first person of native blood to become president, being of Zapotec descent. As a politician he is known for passing laws and reforms that benefited his people. One such law was even named after him, The Juárez Law La Ley Juárez. His time of leadership became known as La Reforma
Roads, avenues, shops, and even cemeteries bear the name of this great man, and his face appears on Mexican currency. March 21st is a national holiday in honor of Juarez (this is the date of his birthday).
